i graduated from VJC in 1999, and it's been exactly a decade since. i love the place and the people, and those college years remain some of my best schooling memories.

when they asked if I could perform as a "celebrity alumni" i of course agreed :)

if there're seasons... re-run

drama centre

April 16th to May 10th

i was so busy i didn't even manage to update my website with information on the re-run of this hit musical, nevertheless i saw many familiar faces and we sold-out the tickets! thank you all for supporting local theatre, in particular mandarin theatre! there are some peripheral news on the official blog for those of you who are still interested to see some of what happened behind-the-scenes!

do not disturb - late checkout please (real actors)

esplanade theatre studio

Dec 18th, 19th (8pm) & 20th (matinee)

this is my first non-musical piece of theatre since i graduated. i do sing however, but only for about ten seconds. the series actually comprises four stories set behind the doors of a budget hotel room. each premise explores a different set of relationships between two people. in the piece i'm in, timothy nga and myself play two actors who've been selected to act intimately across each other in auteur ang lee's next epic film. yes, i lose my clothes. no, there's really nothing to see (come, and you'll find out)

the show is organised into two sets of doublebills: real actors (the one i'm in) + duet; brunch + teachers' day

i would recommend for you to catch all the pieces. all the pieces were written by local playwrights for this project.

directed by tan kheng hua.

lullaby nomad official EP launch concert

19th Sept 2008, 9.30pm (60mins, no intermission)

esplanade recital studio

it's been four years of singing professionally, and nearly twenty years since i first performed on stage. this is a real landmark for me. and a very bold step to have taken, having funded and produced the EP entirely "independently" (but not *independently* because i've had help and support from so many dear friends).

and so, to mark this milestone occasion, apart from sharing some of the songs in the EP, i will sing the songs that i considered milestones to me. i will also explain why the songs are milestones to me of course. for some of these songs, it will be the first time i am revisiting them; understanding and expressing them all over again, with the voice i am now.

the CD will be available for sale on the date of the concert too. and yes, if you like, i will sign on the CD ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you don't know me, there's no better way to catch up on all those years. if you do know me, then there's no excuse - you are invariably a part of my history, and need to be there on this occasion that means so much to my present and future.

tickets will go on sale on the 7th August at sistic.

2007 was a year I spent an unprecedented amount of time and energy building up my mandarin portfolio. this concert is the culmination of those efforts, and a marriage between two mediums close to my heart: jazz, and the chinese language.

accompanying me will be some of my dear friends mei sheum (piano/ arranger), brandon wong (bass) and tan boon gee (drums).

it will be a 30min concert and entrance is free. make a lunchtime date with your friends and colleagues and get your ass down!

if there're seasons... 2007  @ drama centre, national library

16 August onwards, tickets on sale at sistic

in keeping with my personal tradition of doing one large-scale musical a year. this year's is a breakthrough in more ways than one. my first foray into chinese theatre, i'll not only be singing and acting in mandarin, but this will also be my formal debut in a lead role.

"Inspired by the popular hits of songwriting sensation Liang Wern Fook and written by award-winning Hong Kong playwright Raymond to, who penned the 2005 hit movie Perhaps Love starring Jacky Cheung, If There're Seasons... is a breathtaking musical about love beyond death, friendships that go the distance, and dreams that find their way home.

The  Theatre Practice, which brought you the magnificent stage spectacle Lao Jiu: The Musical, and the modern day rendering of Cao Yu's famous classic Thunderstorm, is back again to excite your senses and warm your hearts in this epic of love and courage!"

i'm looking forward to the challenges and joys of performing in a language close to my heart, and anticipate a personal growth and catharsis through the rehearsal process with the theatre practice.

please come. (there'll be surtitles...)
